Welcome Back to the last day of Minding My Black Owned Business Recognition! I hope you got a chance to look at all of our black owned businesses and if you didn't what are you waiting for??? Go back and look in our past blogs and check these awesome businesses out.

Unfortunately we were not able to showcase all black owned businesses this month but we do appreciate and support all of the SL black owned businesses!

We hope you are enjoyed earning about these businesses and their owners as much as we did. Now on with it. πŸ˜€

For Black History Month, Eta Sigma Delta Inc  highlighted some of our black owned businesses on the grid. These business leaders have been seen working very hard at what they do and showing everyone that they can and will do it. We wanted to recognize them for their hard work and dedication to their crafts.

These businesses have made a positive impact to the community rather it was by recognizing their dedicated customers, giving out group gifts, joining into conversations with their customers on Facebook or just by giving great customer service. We want to say thank you for letting us into your world and we commend you for your hard work and focus.

Here is what our last business owner had to say....

Our last business is Family Luv Medical/Birthing Center

Family Luv Medical/Birthing Center is a medical practice that focuses on prenatal care however, we also specialize in general medicine, pediatrics and men's health.

About the owner, Cassie D. Shaw M.D.
"I am a person that enjoy making others happy. I am family oriented and love very hard. I believe in treating people with respect, love, loyalty, honesty and compassion. I am a mother, a sister, a aunt, a grandmother, a godmother and friend."

Family Luv Medical/Birthing Center has been in business since November 2011 almost 10 years on the grid.

We asked Cassie a couple of questions and here is what she had to say...

Do you find it is harder for you being a black owned business and specifically if a lot of what you design, creative or put together caters more to black people?

- "I feel it may be a bit harder but not specifically because I am black. There are a lot of medical centers in second life and most choose to compete rather than embrace one another. For me, that is the problem."

What makes doing what you do rewarding for you?

- "The joy I see within my patients. When I have the same patients contently coming back and sending their loved ones as well because once you choose us you now have another family :)"

What advice can you give to other black entrepreneurs trying to start their SL business?

- "My advice would be to have a plan and be you! Don't try to worry about what someone else in the same field is doing, focus on you and your ideas and what you can bring into the same field. There will always be more than one of something but everyone views and maneuvers it differently so be uniquely you."

What would you like to say to all of your supporters and customers?

- "Thank you for constantly choosing FLMBC. I appreciate your love and loyalty, you really make what we do very rewarding."

The Flawless Sapphires of Eta Sigma Delta would like to thank you Cassie for taking time out of her busy day to give us a look inside your life.

Please support my business and continue to show love to our black owned businesses in Second Life.

We want to say thank you for letting us into your world and we commend you for your hard work and focus.

Here is what our nineteenth business owner had to say....

Our nineteenth business is De'Corum

De'Corum is a boutique design firm specializing in residential and commercial services. We are dedicated to helping individuals and businesses create captivating and inspiring environments. By taking a unique approach to each design project, whether it’s contemporary or traditional, allows for the client's vision and our expertise to reflect their lifestyle.

About the owner, Mochacoco Chenille

"I am a mother of four beautiful daughters with two boys on the way. I have a wonderful and supportive fiancΓ© who helps me run De'corum. I've always had a passion for designing and even styling. I actually got into home interior by accident lol. I would decorate my own home and family started noticing my work. They would then ask me to do their homes and encouraged me to open my own business so I took a chance. Pretty soon I was having clients on hold waiting until I had openings to get their homes done. I really enjoy what I do and I try my best to balance my RL time with my SL time. I love the beauty in SL and wanted to help add to it one home at a time."

De'Corum has been in business since March 2018, almost 3 years.

We asked Mochacoco couple of questions and here is what she had to say...

Do you find it is harder for you being a black owned business and specifically if a lot of what you design, creative or put together caters more to black people?

- "I never really thought about this. I don't think it's harder having a black owned business. I actually never really paid attention to the race of my clientele. Now that I think about the question most of my clients I will say are African American, I don't know if that's by design or just because the group of people that are around me tend to be those of my own race. I don't think my designs fully cater to black people, however I do use a lot of black art but if my client isn't black I do different type of art pieces. I usually cater to my clients vision bringing my own uniqueness to it. I just bring realism to my work and I think that fits any race."

What makes doing what you do rewarding for you?

- "The most fulfilling part of my business is when my clients walk into their homes and are completely happy with what they see. I love when they walk through each room, snapping pictures and saying they can't wait to have company over lol.... yeah that's the best feeling. "

Typically how long does it take you to get 1 item out?

"I usually ask for two days per room because I work in RL and it's only myself, my fiancΓ© and sometimes my sister that helps."

What advice can you give to other black entrepreneurs trying to start their SL business?

- "Just do it, no excuses, no fear. There's room for everyone's talent on SL so find yours and make it happen."

What would you like to say to all of your supporters and customers?

- "Thank you so much for trusting me with your homes and businesses and for believing in my work. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you and to one day bring you my very own pieces for all of you to enjoy. "

The Flawless Sapphires of Eta Sigma Delta would like to thank you Mochacoco for taking time out of your busy day to give us a look inside your life.

Please support this beautiful young lady and continue to show love to our black owned businesses in Second Life.

About the owner, Divi Jenelle Carriere

"I am pretty laid back, love to laugh, and goofy at times. I love helping others and will give someone the shirt off my back if need be. I typically surround myself with my family and spend most of my time with them when I am not decorating or shopping. I have been in SL for 13 years and I have met many amazing people. I enjoy creating spaces in SL and I get so much inspiration from the design shows I watch in RL. "

Divi's Decor has been in business for 4 years.

We asked Divi a couple of questions and here is what she had to say...

Do you find it is harder for you being a black owned business and specifically if a lot of what you design, creative or put together caters more to black people?

- "No. I have not had any hardships being a black owned business. "

What makes doing what you do rewarding for you?

- "The biggest reward for me is seeing my clients reactions when I reveal their newly decorated homes to them."

Typically how long does it take you to get 1 item out?

"Depending on the project size and level of detail required, it can range from 1 day to 1 week or longer."

What advice can you give to other black entrepreneurs trying to start their SL business?

- "Do not give up! It's might be hard to get started and get your name out there but with lots of hard work you can and will be successful!"

What would you like to say to all of your supporters and customers?

- "Thank you so much for supporting me, whether it's hiring me for a project, sharing my work I post, nominating me for awards, or recommending me to others. I appreciate all of you and I could not do do what I without your support!"

The Flawless Sapphires of Eta Sigma Delta would like to thank you Divi for taking time out of your busy day to give us a look inside your life.

We want to say thank you for letting us into your world and we commend you for your hard work and focus.

Here is what our sixteenth business owner had to say....

Our sixteenth business is Batista's Getaway Resort

Batista's Getaway Resort is a long standing hospitality establishment, founded by now retired Deangelo Batista & Jennifer Mondavi in May 2011. Currently managed by sisters SonDee & Melodie Batista, we have been delivering full role play experiences in dining, spa treatments and resort stays over the last six years and still possess the same passion to deliver the best customer role play experiences to all.

About the owner, SonDee Batista-Lefevre

"I've been on the SL grid for 8 years. I started at Batista's in 2013 as a staff server, was promoted to Manager in 2014 and in 2015 the business was handed down as my father, Deangelo Batista retired. I'm a private person, more of a homebody. I take pride in being loyal to those around me. I'm a mother of one son, Adrian Xavorin Batista and wife to Tyson Lefevre for the last year."

Batista's Getaway Resort has been in business for 10 years on May 20, 2021.

We asked SonDee a couple of questions and here is what she had to say...

Do you find it is harder for you being a black owned business and specifically if a lot of what you design, creative or put together caters more to black people?

- "We are a recreational establishment and cater to all races. So I don't feel it to be harder for me in the business that I'm in. I think the key is remaining relevant in a field such as this. Since interests shift so often here in SL, it's important to remain persistent regardless. If your audience can count on you to always be there, that in itself is success to me."

What makes doing what you do rewarding for you?

- "What makes what I do most rewarding is when you hear that you truly made someone's day. It could be by providing an extra detail or showing genuine care for their concerns and needs. Knowing that you provided someone with a unique experience that they not only appreciate but won't forget is the most rewarding."

Typically how long does it take you to get 1 item out?

"We don't create items so I would say reservations depend on availability"

What advice can you give to other black entrepreneurs trying to start their SL business?

- "The best advice I can give to black entrepreneurs in the business field that I'm currently in or any business field is to not give up on your vision, don't get wrapped up in how much money you are or are not going to make. I believe that you have to have a genuine love for what you're doing to be successful. In Second Life, not all establishments last a long time but if you are genuinely passionate about what you're doing and have a successful support system, you stand a better chance at being successful"

What would you like to say to all of your supporters and customers?

- "To all of the supporters and patrons who have been with Batista's over the years and to the new ones we accumulated along the way, We are most grateful to you all for trusting us to deliver the memorable lasting experiences that we have been known for over the years. A huge Thank You from all of us to all of you!"

The Flawless Sapphires of Eta Sigma Delta would like to thank you SonDee for taking time out of your busy day to give us a look inside your life.
