Check Your Blood Pressure Day

Roll those sleeves up and get that Blood Pressure cuff ready!

With the holidays coming up on us it is more likely for people to have higher blood pressure than normal due to the stress of season. During this season we stress so much over who is going to cook to what does everyone want for Christmas. With all this going on your blood pressure can sky rocket and you wouldn't know it. So today it is urged for you to check your blood pressure and if you check out in normal range then you will be all set to go for the upcoming holidays. Now if your blood pressure is a tad bit high just know it might get higher with the holiday stress. Your blood pressure is not just some numbers over a line, they are indicators of your health and well-being.

What exactly is Blood Pressure?

Blood Pressure is defined as: the pressure of the blood in the circulatory system, often measured for diagnoses since it is closely related to the force and rate of the heartbeat and the diameter and elasticity of the arterial walls. In so many words your blood pressures the force of blood pushing through your body. Now if  that force is too high it can put a lot of strain on the arteries and cause some damage to your body. If it stays high overtime it can lead to strokes, heart attacks and other conditions.

How is it measured?

Your blood pressure is recorded using two numbers, which are:

*Systolic blood pressure - indicates how much pressure your blood exerting againist your artery walls when the heart bears.
*Diastolic blood pressure - indicated how much pressure your blood is exerting against your artery walls while the heart is resting between beats.

If your blood pressure ever gets over 180 your are considered a walking stroke/heart attack. In this case you will need to seek out some medical attention to see why your pressure is high and maybe even visit the ER to get check out immediately. Sometimes if your blood pressure is too high a doctor may prescribe some medication to get it under control or you may need to change your diet to decrease that number. I have had issues with my blood pressure in rl due to my pregnancies to the point I had to get my own blood pressure machine:

Since I was able to check on my blood pressure everyday it allowed me to adjust my lifestyle and control my stress levels so my pressure wasn't so high like it was starting to become.

In conclusion on this days please check on your blood pressure so you can know here you stand before this stressful holiday season starts and you can adjust your lifestyle to get your pressure under control. But besides the holidays check your blood pressure throughout the year as well just to stay up to date with your current health. Until next next time you all be blessed.
