National Professional Social Work Month

March is the month chosen to celebrate social workers and the work we do. I have been a social worker for a few years now. I love what I do. I love to advocate and stand up for the rights of others. I love assisting an individual in making changes to better themselves. It is a very rewarding experience to be able to help those in need. As a social worker I wear many hats, which include but not limited to : enabler, activist, educator, advocate, mediator, and speaker.

Celebrated each March, National Professional Social Work Month is an opportunity for social workers across the country to turn the spotlight on the profession and highlight the important contributions they make to society. Our nation’s more than 600,000 social workers have amazing tenacity and talent.

They confront some of the most challenging issues facing individuals, families, communities and society and forge solutions that help people reach their full potential and make our nation a better place to live.We celebrate the contributions of social workers during National Social Work Month in March.
Social workers stand up for millions of people every day. These include people who are experiencing devastating illnesses and mental health crises, our veterans, children, families and communities. Yet many people still misunderstand who social workers are and the invaluable contributions they bring to society.

This year we will commemorate Social Work Month with a “Social Workers Stand Up!” campaign. This campaign will educate the public about the contributions of social workers and give social workers and their allies tools they can use to elevate the profession. Activities will be updated so be sure to check back regularly for the latest Social Work Month activities
