Welcome Back! Glad to see that you are still with us and you was here for our twentieth black owned business yesterday! If you are new here, grab a seat and check out what we are doing this month and don't forget to go back to the other blogs so you can play catch up! We hope you are enjoying learning about these businesses and their owners as much as we are. π
For Black History Month, Eta Sigma Delta Inc is highlighting some of our black owned businesses on the grid. These business leaders have been seen working very hard at what they do and showing everyone that they can and will do it. We want to recognize them for their hard work and dedication to their crafts.
These businesses have made a positive impact to the community rather it was by recognizing their dedicated customers, giving out group gifts, joining into conversations with their customers on Facebook or just by giving great customer service. We want to say thank you for letting us into your world and we commend you for your hard work and focus.
Here is what our twenty first business owner had to say....
Our twenty first business is TKO!
TKO is an Afrocentric clothing store for males and females
About the owner, Tia Kimagawa
"I have been on the grid for 11 years (total), I am a mother, Daughter, Sister, Girlfriend, Founder, and Business Owner. I have worn so many hats over the years and enjoy them all. As a business owner I try to present a product that is innovative as well as eye catching."
TKO has been in business since March 2017.
We asked Tia a couple of questions and here is what she had to say...
Do you find it is harder for you being a black owned business and specifically if a lot of what you design, creative or put together caters more to black people?
- "Yes, it limits my client pool, but regardless it's rewarding."
What makes doing what you do rewarding for you?
- "I love bringing my visions into SL, seeing my creative flow make others happy has to be the best high in the world."
Typically how long does it take you to get 1 item out?
- "LOL< it all depends. If I'm in a zone.. A few hours if not, a few days ."
What advice can you give to other black entrepreneurs trying to start their SL business?
- "Regardless of how hard the fight, never give up. Talk to other people doing what you want, or other established business owners. Many will help you with tricks of the trade. I have talented designers tell me how to work my textures better, how to produce better product ads and how to get your name out there. Always make sure that you put your best product out and customer service will make or break you."
What would you like to say to all of your supporters and customers?
- "Thank you.. I appreciate each and every one of you. I will always strive to produce quality apparel at affordable prices. And remember Continue to be Uniquely different, Wonderfully bold Always You."
The Flawless Sapphires of Eta Sigma Delta would like to thank you Tia for taking time out of her busy day to give us a look inside your life.
Please support this beautiful young lady and continue to show love to our black owned businesses in Second Life.
