Happy Valentine's Day! Glad to see that you are still with us and you was here for our ninth black owned business yesterday! If you are new here, grab a seat and check out what we are doing this month and don't forget to go back to the other blogs so you can play catch up! We hope you are enjoying learning about these businesses and their owners as much as we are. π
For Black History Month, Eta Sigma Delta Inc is highlighting some of our black owned businesses on the grid. These business leaders have been seen working very hard at what they do and showing everyone that they can and will do it. We want to recognize them for their hard work and dedication to their crafts.
These businesses have made a positive impact to the community rather it was by recognizing their dedicated customers, giving out group gifts, joining into conversations with their customers on Facebook or just by giving great customer service. We want to say thank you for letting us into your world and we commend you for your hard work and focus.
Here is what our tenth business owner had to say....
Our tenth business is ARK!
ARK is a minimal design store for decor , unisex accessories and poses. Each design is created originally by the creator and not to be found elsewhere on second life or real. ARK also provides custom mesh services.
"I am a pretty laid back person. I love to work with my hands. I am a busy body and playful because I’m always thinking of stuff to do or trying to figure out stuff. Most of the time it’s pretty much for someone. I enjoy helping people out if I can."
ARK became public in 2019. ARK custom mesh services became public in 2020.
We asked Raw J T a couple of questions and here is what he had to say...
Do you find it is harder for you being a black owned business and specifically if a lot of what you design, creative or put together caters more to black people?
- "Yes and no. Yes because the moment someone non black sees the actual person behind ARK they might get discouraged to shop. I wonder sometimes if it’s because that in the past there have been soo many black creators on second life did a messy service from what I have seen & heard. Or it’s because I’m really just black and they think there’s no way I can come up with my own decor designs and accessories. My designs and services is open and offered to any race and it will stay that way to whoever supports it. "
What makes doing what you do rewarding for you?
- " Seeing my customers happy."
Typically how long does it take you to get 1 item out?
- "The timeframe for me is all over the place. I have a sketchbook of designs I create. I take a moment to fix and study them before I begin the mesh process and this can maybe take five mins or take a week. Once it’s finished meshed I show my WIP I only show them when it’s been textured and ready to be in the store. It’s to avoid my work from being copied. "
What advice can you give to other black entrepreneurs trying to start their SL business?
- "Facebook algorithm sucks ass for promotion . Use Instagram the most. Be patient be patient be patient."
What would you like to say to all of your supporters and customers?
- "Be kind to everyone. It’s the only way."
The Flawless Sapphires of Eta Sigma Delta would like to thank you Raw J T for taking time out of your busy day to give us a look inside your life.
Please support this handsome young man and continue to show love to our black owned businesses in Second Life.
Thank you for reading and come back tomorrow for our next business recognition!
