(❁´◡`❁) GREEK HIGHLIGHT 411 PART 2 (❁´◡`❁)

Eta Sigma Delta is proud to present, GREEK HIGHLIGHT 411. The Flawless Sapphires will pick 2 greek organizations a month to interview. We will get to know a little about them, and any upcoming events so we can be more informed on upcoming Greek Events. Our second Greek organization for the month we chose, is the sorority Sigma Iota Sigma. Big Sister Sweet and Sassy sat down with Founder Dominiq Savinon. Here's what she had to say.

Christy: First, I wanna say thank you for sitting down and talking to me. Im sure you have a busy schedule.

Dominiq: I thank you as well I am so happy to have this opportunity.

Christy: First lets start off with introducing yourself and telling us a little about you?

Dominiq: I am Dominiq Savinon and I am one of the Founders with Sigma Iota Sigma Sorority. We have been established since 2014.

Christy: Awesome! So what made you want to start a sorority? .

Dominiq: With all the wonderful sororities on the grid and having been in a sorority in real life I wanted to add to the Greek Community with our own chapter. We have had such an amazing experience from the moment we started in 2014 up until now with bonding with other Greek entities.

Christy: Thats awesome you've had the experience with RL greek life, I wished I had of when I was younger. What makes Sigma Iota Sigma differ from other sororities on the grid?

Dominiq: As all the Greek organizations have their own staple here on the grid .Sigma Iota Sigma. prides itself in being the sisterhood that makes sure that we are networking with other Greek organizations for one as we all have a purpose here on the grid. We also enjoy educating about our philanthropy more than just during the month of its awareness. What we like to do is educate, empower and encourage

Christy: I love that answer! Speaking of Philanthropies, can you educate us on the philanthropies Sigma Iota Sigma support?

Dominiq: Yes of course our philanthropies are Journey Center For Safety & Healing (Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy)  and also NORD (National Organization for Rare Disorders). NORD actually is personal to me and my real life health. With the NORD organization it speaks to me as I have a rare disease called PVNS which stands for Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis. It is a condition that causes the synovium which is the thin layer of tissue that lines the joints and tendons to thicken and overgrow. The mass or tumor that results from this overgrowth is not cancerous however can only be treated via cancer methods. So I have had radiation treatments and several surgeries. It has gotten so worse that I am now pending a double knee replacement for both of my knees.

Christy: Oh my, that sounds very painful to deal with and I am so sorry that you have to deal with that.  Both are great philanthropies to support. Its always fulfilling to support something that you are passionate about. What are some of your signature events? And do you have any events coming up that you would like to announce?

Dominiq: I am super excited about all the events we have however our coming out event on June 19th will be an event that will impact a lot of people. Currently right now we are supporting a lot of Greeks for their Autism Awareness events. I will just say stay alert to the .Sigma Iota Sigma Facebook page and all of the wonderful things we have coming up and or are supporting.

Christy: Well now you have peaked my interest. I am all for a great event! I have just one more question. Will Sigma Iota Sigma be doing a pledge line soon? And if so, when? One last question Devon, Will you be doing anymore pledge lines? and If so, when can we expect you to start?

Dominiq: We will be recruiting this summer actually. We wanted to wait to make sure our home was settled for the new sisters to come in to. However we are super thrilled to welcome the new bonds. We will be announcing it on our Facebook page as well.

Christy: That is awesome! Eta Sigma Delta will be on the look out to show support your way!  Thank you so much for sitting down with me today to do this interview Dominiq, It was a pleasure meeting you, and I look forward to supporting Sigma Iota Sigma in the years to come. Do you mind if I snap a picture of you?

Dominiq: Sure as long as you get my good side, lol.

There you have it, a word from one of the co-founders of Sigma Iota Sigma. I had such pleasure doing this interview. Dominiq you were amazing to interview, and I look forward to coming to support your events in the near future. Until next time yall, take care of yourself and each other.

(❁´◡`❁) GREEK HIGHLIGHT 411 (❁´◡`❁)

Eta Sigma Delta is proud to present, GREEK HIGHLIGHT 411. The Flawless Sapphires will pick 2 greek organizations a month to interview. We will get to know a little about them, and any upcoming events so we can be more informed on upcoming Greek Events. Our first greek organization we chose, is the fraternity Kappa Nu Chi. Big Sister Sweet and Sassy sat down with Founder Devon Deveruex. Heres what he had to say.

Christy: I first want to thank you for sitting down with me for this interview. I know you are a very busy man, so your time is appreciated.

Devon: Thank you for having me.

Christy: First lets start off with introducing yourself and telling us a little about you?

Devon: My name is Devon Holiday-Deveruex, Ive been on the game for 10 years. I have done lots of things on the game and like to do things that are different. I have had my own singing competition The Voice which lasted 2 seasons, done videography, opened the first restaurant with RP Voice, which was done with my lovely wife Melanie, and used to do weddings. I now focus more on things that are for my frat, because thats pretty much all I have time for. I pride myself on doing things that are not the norm. I try to step out of box and do things that haven't been done before, or try to put my spin on them.

Christy: I love that you like to step out of the box for things. Its what makes SL a great place to be. Can you tell me about your fraternity, and what made you want to start a fraternity.

Devon: I founded Kappa Nu Chi 11/11/16 and started by myself.  A couple people asked me to start one. I was in a frat, before but I wasn't fulfilled with what I was getting. I had a friend of mine that wanted a brother organization to her sorority. I told her I was going to do my own thing, my own vision, and it kind of went from there. I wanted to create a fraternity that was a safe place for mature minded men, and build a true brotherhood.

Christy: Thats awesome! True brotherhood and sisterhood is amazing! Do you feel you have accomplished your goal? Do you have any future goals?

Devon: I set out to create a space, and I think I have, and that's the brothers of KNX feel like they found a place where they belong. I am a firm believer in quality over quantity. You can have many events, and throw tons of fund raisers but if you haven't got an organization where the brothers and sisters know each other, there's no substance, and you don't have anything. What I hope for us, is to keep the same mentality, that we keep doing things original instead of your day to day things. We have actually written a play, and put it on for the public on our Founders Day and we may do another.

Christy: Speaking of original events, what are some of your Signature events?

Devon: We have Night Cap, its a party we throw twice a year. A lingerie party. We also have the Greek for the Greeks, its a Greek Themed Toga party, we have the Kappa Cruise, which we just put on, this year we went to India, and we also have the Mother's Day event, this is to give thanks to the mothers on the grid, and we give each mother that shows up a special gift!

Christy: Awww that sounds awesome, I will definitely show up to support! What do we expect to see from Kappa Nu Chi this year?

Devon: Well right now we have the Mothers Day Event coming up. Its May the 8th, so mark your calendars! Details on that event will be announced at a later time. I also am working on something Big, but cannot disclose any details at this time!

Christy: One last question Devon, Will you be doing anymore pledge lines? and If so, when can we expect you to start?

Devon: We are planning on this year, depending on the quality of applicants. Follow us on Facebook Kappa Nu Chi for information about upcoming events, and pledge applications.

Christy: Devon, I wanna thank you again for taking the time out to do this interview with me. I want to thank you for all your hard work and contributions.

Devon: No problem, thank you again for thinking of Kappa Nu Chi.

I had a great time doing this interview, and I cant wait to do the next one. Stay tuned, there are big things coming from Eta Sigma Delta. Until next time, take care of yourself and each other

Eta Sigma Delta's Sapphire of The Month (February) ~ Ms. Christy Sparrowhawk M.D. ~ Take a look into her life

Eta Sigma Delta's Sapphire of the Month

Eta Sigma Delta’s Sapphire (Sister) of the Month goes to Christy Sparrowhawk M.D. aka Big Sister Sweet N Sassy. Not only is it a honor for me to have the privilege to interview her as a sister but, I was also her mentor during the pledge process. Christy started off in ESD and once she became comfortable and confident in what she could achieved, she hit the ground running! She wanted her hand in a little of everything and she was patient for her turn to rank up which also happened for her last month.

On March 3, 2021 Christy and I sat down at my house and had a nice and fun chat. Check it out...

Cassie: Hello, Hello, Hello, Ms. Christy! Thank you for coming to have a chat with me today.

Christy: Hey sis Cassie, my pleasure, happy to be here.

Cassie: Let's start off with why did you decide to pledge Eta Sigma Delta?

Christy: I have been on the grid for 10 years, and I've always looked for a sorority to join, because I never got the experience in real life. I wanted to join a true sisterhood and be with women who uplift one another, love each other, and stand by each other thick and thin. When I had my interview with ESD, I just felt it was fate.

Cassie: How have your experience been so far?

Christy: With any sisterhood comes good times, bad times, stressful times, but then there's the moments we have that I would trade a million dollars for, and we have more of those moments than the rest. My experience has been amazing for the past 2 years, and I'm looking forward to many more.

Cassie: That's great and yes definitely many more. What is your current rank in ESD? Do you enjoy your new rank?

Christy: Right now, I am Marchioness and Pledge Mistress and I enjoy it very much. However I am looking forward to putting myself out there and ranking up in the near future.

Cassie: Me personally, I am very proud of you. I was your mentor during the pledge process and you have made me very proud that you have come so far. You came out the gate running and trying to get your hand in what you could, reaching different heights and becoming comfortable with your greatness because honey, you are GREAT! We strive for all of our sisters to reach their goals and higher points in their second lives. What motivates you to give all that you give into the sorority?

Christy: Thank you so much sis. I love our purpose, I love the bond we have with each other and our willingness to do good for others and the people who surround us. We have always been about quality, not quantity. We each have something we all bring to the table, and each of us strives to be better every day. Who wouldn't have motivation with a sisterhood like that?

Cassie: Exactly! I love that and every bit of it is true. What would you say is the most rewarding for being one of the heads of the whole pledge process?

Christy: The most rewarding thing about being a pledge master, is you watch these women come in, and you watch them grow and learn. Its almost like watching a caterpillar turn into a butterfly. When they are polished and shined, you think to yourself, "Oh wow, I helped with that" It makes you smile.

Cassie laughs

Cassie: That is a great way to put it and is exactly how it is. You are the sister of the month, how exactly did you feel when you learned that you were named sister of the month?

Christy: I was honored to be honest. I've had a lot of stuff going on in real life so when I came back. I said to myself, I am going to make a difference in second life. I want to help and motivate women, so that's exactly what I did. I got involved in helping the sorority with anything I could, but never imagined I would be named sister of the month again. I received it last year as well, so it was a shock, but I am honored

Cassie: awwwww that is sweet. Twice Sapphire of the month, that is a record. Keep up the great work.

Christy smiles

Cassie: Do you do other things outside of ESD, for instance do you have a family or work elsewhere?

Christy: Yes I have 5 beautiful children, I have two wonderful parents, wonderful siblings, a boyfriend who is so amazing and supportive, my sorority sisters and a best friend who has my back through any and everything. I am a OBGYN for the Family Luv Medical Center. I am richly blessed!

Cassie: That is wonderful. Thank you for your time to come and sit with me for this interview. I had a great time with you as I always do. And if every knew how many retakes we did through all the laughing lol.

And there you have it! Congrats again I hope you enjoyed looking in the life of one of our sisters.

Welcome Back to the last day of Minding My Black Owned Business Recognition! I hope you got a chance to look at all of our black owned businesses and if you didn't what are you waiting for??? Go back and look in our past blogs and check these awesome businesses out.

Unfortunately we were not able to showcase all black owned businesses this month but we do appreciate and support all of the SL black owned businesses!

We hope you are enjoyed earning about these businesses and their owners as much as we did. Now on with it. πŸ˜€

For Black History Month, Eta Sigma Delta Inc  highlighted some of our black owned businesses on the grid. These business leaders have been seen working very hard at what they do and showing everyone that they can and will do it. We wanted to recognize them for their hard work and dedication to their crafts.

These businesses have made a positive impact to the community rather it was by recognizing their dedicated customers, giving out group gifts, joining into conversations with their customers on Facebook or just by giving great customer service. We want to say thank you for letting us into your world and we commend you for your hard work and focus.

Here is what our last business owner had to say....

Our last business is Family Luv Medical/Birthing Center!

Family Luv Medical/Birthing Center is a medical practice that focuses on prenatal care however, we also specialize in general medicine, pediatrics and men's health.

About the owner, Cassie D. Shaw M.D.
"I am a person that enjoy making others happy. I am family oriented and love very hard. I believe in treating people with respect, love, loyalty, honesty and compassion. I am a mother, a sister, a aunt, a grandmother, a godmother and friend."

Family Luv Medical/Birthing Center has been in business since November 2011 almost 10 years on the grid.

We asked Cassie a couple of questions and here is what she had to say...

Do you find it is harder for you being a black owned business and specifically if a lot of what you design, creative or put together caters more to black people?

- "I feel it may be a bit harder but not specifically because I am black. There are a lot of medical centers in second life and most choose to compete rather than embrace one another. For me, that is the problem."

What makes doing what you do rewarding for you?

- "The joy I see within my patients. When I have the same patients contently coming back and sending their loved ones as well because once you choose us you now have another family :)"

What advice can you give to other black entrepreneurs trying to start their SL business?

- "My advice would be to have a plan and be you! Don't try to worry about what someone else in the same field is doing, focus on you and your ideas and what you can bring into the same field. There will always be more than one of something but everyone views and maneuvers it differently so be uniquely you."

What would you like to say to all of your supporters and customers?

- "Thank you for constantly choosing FLMBC. I appreciate your love and loyalty, you really make what we do very rewarding."

The Flawless Sapphires of Eta Sigma Delta would like to thank you Cassie for taking time out of her busy day to give us a look inside your life.

Please support my business and continue to show love to our black owned businesses in Second Life.
