🌍🌍 Earth Day 🌍🌍

Good evening everyone. Today is a very special day, that we celebrate mother earth and all of the things she provides, that's right, its Earth Day.
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network
In 1969 at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco, peace activist John McConnell proposed a day to honor the Earth and the concept of peace, to first be celebrated on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. This day of nature's equipoise was later sanctioned in a proclamation written by McConnell and signed by Secretary General U Thant at the United Nations. A month later a United States Senator Gaylord Nelson proposed the idea to hold a nationwide environmental teach-in on April 22, 1970. He hired a young activist, Denis Hayes, to be the National Coordinator. Nelson and Hayes renamed the event “Earth Day.” Nelson was later awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom award in recognition of his work.[3] The first Earth Day was focused on the United States. In 1990, Denis Hayes, the original national coordinator in 1970, took it international and organized events in 141 nations.

~Titanic Remembrance Day~

The Ship of Dreams

What was once called the Ship of Dreams, is now labeled as one of the most remembered tragedies in history. On this day, in 1912, The famous liner, Titanic sank to the bottom of the North Atlantic ocean on her maiden voyage. Today, I will be taking you back in history, to share some interesting facts, talk about the Titanic, and to honor the passengers who lost their lives on that tragic day.

First lets talk about the ship. The name Titanic derives from the Titan of Greek mythology. Built in Belfast, Ireland, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland , the RMS Titanic was the second of the three Olympic-class ocean liners—the first was the RMS Olympic and the third was the HMHS Britannic. Britannic was originally to be called Gigantic and was to be over 1,000 feet (300 m) long. They were by far the largest vessels of the British shipping company White Star Line's fleet, which comprised 29 steamers and tenders in 1912. Titanic was 882 feet 9 inches (269.06 m) long with a maximum breadth of 92 feet 6 inches (28.19 m). Her total height, measured from the base of the keel to the top of the bridge, was 104 feet (32 m). She measured 46,328 gross register tons and with a draught of 34 feet 7 inches (10.54 m), she displaced 52,310 tons.

On May 31, 1911, Titanic’s immense hull–the largest movable manmade object in the world at the time–made its way down the slipways and into the River Lagan in Belfast. More than 100,000 people attended the launching, which took just over a minute and went off without a hitch. The hull was immediately towed to a mammoth fitting-out dock where thousands of workers would spend most of the next year building the ship’s decks, constructing her lavish interiors and installing the 29 giant boilers that would power her two main steam engines. According to some hypotheses, Titanic was doomed from the start by a design that many lauded as state-of-the-art. The Olympic-class ships featured a double bottom and 15 watertight bulkhead compartments equipped with electric watertight doors that could be operated individually or simultaneously by a switch on the bridge. It was these watertight bulkheads that inspired Shipbuilder magazine, in a special issue devoted to the Olympic liners, to deem them “practically unsinkable.” But the watertight compartment design contained a flaw that was a critical factor in Titanic’s sinking: While the individual bulkheads were indeed watertight, the walls separating the bulkheads extended only a few feet above the water line, so water could pour from one compartment into another, especially if the ship began to list or pitch forward.
The second critical safety lapse that contributed to the loss of so many lives was the inadequate number of lifeboats carried on Titanic. A mere 16 boats, plus four Engelhardt “collapsibles,” could accommodate just 1,178 people. Titanic could carry up to 2,435 passengers, and a crew of approximately 900 brought her capacity to more than 3,300 people. As a result, even if the lifeboats were loaded to full capacity during an emergency evacuation, there were available seats for only one-third of those on board. While unthinkably inadequate by today’s standards, Titanic’s supply of lifeboats actually exceeded the British Board of Trade’s requirements.

The ships fate: On April 14, after four days of uneventful sailing, Titanic received sporadic reports of ice from other ships. At about 11:30 p.m., a lookout saw an iceberg coming out of a slight haze dead ahead, then rang the warning bell and telephoned the bridge. The engines were quickly reversed and the ship was turned sharply—instead of making direct impact, Titanic seemed to graze along the side of the berg, sprinkling ice fragments on the forward deck. Sensing no collision, the lookouts were relieved. They had no idea that the iceberg had a jagged underwater spur, which slashed a 300-foot gash in the hull below the ship’s waterline. By the time the captain toured the damaged area with Harland and Wolff’s Thomas Andrews, five compartments were already filling with seawater, and the bow of the doomed ship was alarmingly pitched downward, allowing seawater to pour from one bulkhead into the neighboring compartment. Andrews did a quick calculation and estimated that Titanic might remain afloat for an hour and a half, perhaps slightly more. At that point the captain, who had already instructed his wireless operator to call for help, ordered the lifeboats to be loaded.
Titanic, nearly perpendicular and with many of her lights still aglow, finally dove beneath the ocean’s surface at about 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912. Throughout the morning, Cunard’s Carpathia, after receiving Titanic’s distress call at midnight and steaming at full speed while dodging ice floes all night, rounded up all of the lifeboats. They contained only 705 survivors. There were more than 2,000 people aboard the Titanic.

I would now like to take this time to honor the passengers of the Titanic, who lost their lives that day. Such a tragedy, and may you all rest in peace. As I close this blog, I want to turn to the positive for a minute. I remember a song by Joe Nichols called Impossible. "Unsinkable ships sink, Unbreakable walls break, sometimes you think the things that would never happen, will happen just like that. Unbend-able steel bends, if the fury of the wind is unstoppable. I've learned to never underestimate the impossible." Remember, All things are possible. Until next time, take care of yourself and each other

💞 Happy Siblings Day!!! 💞

With everything going on in this world let's not forget about family! Family for this day is all about the siblings!!! Not every relationship is perfect and every relationship is unique, so the same relationship you have with one sibling you may not have with all of them. This is what is so special about siblings because you get to share certain special parts of your life with each one of them. Everyone gets a different piece of you but nothing less from you. This is how I feel about my siblings, RL and in SL.

My siblings mean the world to me and if I don't tell them enough I definitely love each one of you to the heavens! Even if I don't speak to you on a very daily basis just know you are in my thoughts and prayers EVERY single day.

For my real life siblings....
  • My oldest sibling which is my brother, we both look like my dad and since I was that tomboyish girl I guess I was the honorary lil brother growing up because everything was tried on me lol. Kung fu movies, I was the one that got the moves done on, I was the youngest so got picked on but you know what? I wouldn't trade those memories for the world because I cherish them and laugh at them now. Now that we are all older we have such a special bond that no one can touch or take away. I love my big brother, he is my King and my protector.
  • My oldest sister, who I call my big sister/mommy because when our mom passed away she stepped in and watched over me even though we was all grown. To be honest I'm the youngest so I think she had a soft spot for me lol. But I look up to her in all kinds of ways. She is my hero (especially with her working on the front lines in New York), she is my adviser, she is my conscience and also my protector. I love my big sister, she is my queen and my safe haven.
  • My middle sister, we have had such a crazy different bond if only walls could talk. She has a giving heart and always wants to see the best in everyone. She had covid19 and when I say it scared us all is a understatement. In those times even if you didn't realize it before you then begin to realize how much you love your sister. I love my middle sister, she is my queen and my creative mind.

Now for SL, it's too many of you for a whole paragraph but here goes... lol

  • Reina - My sissy for over 11 years, my day one, the one that gets me in all my craziness and weirdness lol. I love you to the heavens, my queen!
  • Ebony - Another sissy for over 11 years, my sissy for life no matter what we may go through I got your back always! I love you to the heavens, my queen!
  • Snow - My sissy/my bestie, you've seen me at my best and my worse and you love me anyway. I love you to the heavens, my queen!
  • Kara - My sissy, my rose have supported me and had my back since day one. I love you to the heavens, my queen!
  • Tee - Not my sissy but feel like it, my rose and don't play when it comes to us. She has been there with no question from day one. I love you to the heavens, my queen!
  • Christy - My sissy, my soror when I say how big your heart is I don't have enough words to explain that. You make me smile when I wanna cry. I love you to the heavens, my queen!
  • Khloe - My sissy for over 11 years, no matter the craziness, no matter the distance I've always been and will continue to be your sissy! I love you to the heavens, my queen!
  • Suga - My sissy, my soror, you have a heart of gold and I got you... I love you to the heavens, my queen!
  • Chris - My Bro, we hit it off from jump and this year we gonna do better. Let's make memories together. Don't make me fight you lmao. I love you to the heavens, my king!
